New Jersey seniors pay $147.88 to $260.98 a month for identical Medigap Plan G coverage – EasyKind Medicare filed-rate review, July 2026, medicareyourself.com
New Jersey Medigap rates differ by $113 a month across 18 carriers selling the same federally standardized Plan G benefits, according to a July 2026 review of filed rates by Cherry Hill brokerage EasyKind Medicare.

Cherry Hill, NJ – August 15, 2026 – New Jersey Medigap rates for Plan G currently span $147.88 to $260.98 a month for a 65-year-old, a $113 monthly difference for coverage whose benefits are identical by federal law, according to filed-rate data reviewed in July 2026 by EasyKind Medicare, an independent brokerage in Cherry Hill. Eighteen carriers file Plan G rates in the state. Every one of them must pay the same benefits.

The plan letter is the product. A Plan G bought from the most expensive carrier in New Jersey covers exactly what a Plan G from the least expensive carrier covers, because the federal government standardized Medigap benefits by letter. What remains different is price and service. Plan N shows the same pattern: 19 carriers, with filed rates running $106.57 to $208.53 a month.

Rate pressure is building inside individual carrier blocks. Humana’s New Jersey Medigap business filed a 7.01% increase effective June 2024, then a 16.22% increase effective August 2025. State filings show why: the block’s loss ratio has climbed every year since 2020 and crossed 100% in 2025, meaning it paid out slightly more in claims than it collected in premiums. Policyholders in blocks like these are opening rate-increase notices this year.

A policyholder facing an increase is not locked in. Because benefits are standardized by letter, a New Jersey resident can apply to move the same plan letter to a lower-priced carrier at any time of year, though applications outside protected enrollment windows generally involve medical underwriting. New enrollees hold the strongest position: New Jersey’s six-month Medigap open enrollment period, which begins with Part B enrollment, guarantees acceptance regardless of health history.

The figures come from CSG Actuarial filed-rate data as of July 12, 2026, sampled for a 65-year-old non-tobacco applicant in ZIP 08002. Full rate tables, updated monthly, are published at medicareyourself.com/medicare-supplement/new-jersey/rate-index. EasyKind Medicare reviews the spread with New Jersey residents by phone at no charge; broker compensation comes from carriers and does not change the filed rate a consumer pays.
